    Custom desktop widgets

Hi, my first post. I am huge fan of iron man and his in-suit JARVIS HUD is just amazing. I want to recreate something like that on my machine, It will be really pretty and cool looking desktop, if I can make something like that. I tried a google search and reached a dead end with just an app for live wall papers. I don't know anything about UI/UX and I will be learning it along side. Is this project possible? Is it already done? What all will be needed to make it happen?

I am using Ubuntu 16.04 with Gnome.
    Any help is appreciated.

For starters I am thinking of a speedometer like thing which tells CPU and RAM usage and a rotating energy core in center of screen, something like at 2:17 in https://youtu.be/LO8SpOT3Thc

@OP, Welcome to the Forums. Once you have specific support issues relating to existing software/hardware, most certainly post in the appropriate sub-forum.

For some of what you want, I'd suggest having a look at Conky
