Screen resolution problems help!

Hello and I hope someone can help
I have searched everywhere to try and solve this issue I have to no avail!
I installed xubuntu and my screen will only give default connection at 640x480
I have an output from xrandr-q
Failed to get size of gamma for output default

Default connected 640x480+0+0 0mm x0mm

Any ideas what to do to get 1024 ?

Got the same problem here

• Just installed Xubuntu 17.10
• Main screen is working just fine in 1080p
• second screen should be used in 1600x900, but I can only set it up to 1024x768
• In second screen I use a passive MiniDP to DVI adapter. It always worked Fedora and Windows
• AMD Radeon RX 280x
