    I am sure that there are other ways, but you could start by going to the software center and searching for xfce. Then choose Session & startup and install that. I believe that you will then get the option of choosing xfce (or what other desktop you have) when you reboot.

    OP could search for xubuntu-desktop, install that for a "fuller" Xubuntu experience.
