[Xubuntu 16.04] - Install Minecraft 2018

For those new Ubuntu users (including Xubuntu, Lubuntu, and other flavours) having a hard time trying to get Minecraft running on their new OS.

Run these commands, one by one, by copying and pasting them in the terminal.

1. sudo add-apt-repository ppa:flexiondotorg/minecraft
2. sudo apt update
3. sudo apt install minecraft-installer

I usually go through a longer process (e.g. installing java, creating a launcher, and other stuff) and always resort to searching for older guides, a lot of which are still relevant. Just running these commands should allow you to locate a fully executable Minecraft launcher.

What issues do people get?

I've been playing MC for years on Ubuntu and never experienced any kind of problem getting it to work.

The online instructions that I've found say to make the .jar file executable and that's it. I do that and try to launch the program and it spins for a minute and nothing happens. I've tried to install Java separately and done the same thing with the same result. I'm gonna try this when I get off work and let you know the results.

You put a : in front of sudo which shouldn't be there. Better to copy and past OPs command instead. If the problem still persist post exactly the output with [code] tags.
