I have tried several variants of Ubuntu and other LIve Linuxes on my old Windows XP netbook (see title), but most have problems. My latest experiment is with Easy Peasy (from Ubuntu and Debian, formerly called Ubuntu Eee). It's working well in general, but the Azure Atheros Adapter connection to the local network drops after a minute or so. I have found two threads here about this problem. One thread suggests that Power Management be turned off (mine is already off). Another thread (5 years ago) calls for an Updated rt2800pci driver and gives the following command:
Code:
sudo apt-get install linux-backports-modules-cw-3.4-precise-generic
Now, being that I am a Linux beginner, would someone like to volunteer to guide me in trying to get my network connection to be rock-solid, like it is under WinXP? Thanks!
I'm willing to try other ISOs.
