Conserving battery life on my laptop

Hello everyone I was wondering what would be the best way to help save battery life on my Toshiba laptop it last for one to two hours if any. It's a older laptop so I don't expect any miracles. I've seen people say TLP is a good start but I'm not sure how it works

    Thanks in advanced

Change the HDD to a SDD. It will also make it feel a hundred times faster.

Thanks for the tips but I was more concerned about increasing the battery life of this laptop I have. Speed is not a issue

An SSD will conserve battery power: they use less than a spinning HD. Turn off you wifi when not in use.

When was the last time you conditioned your battery? (Charge it fully, run it down all the way. Repeat at least 2 more times.)

I haven't done much with this laptop I just inherited it, all I did was wipe Windows from it and install Ubuntu

Thanks guys for mentioning the SSD I'm sure that would help. I will try conditioning the battery to see how that works
