The list may be incomplete and thats why I wrote as of . There is reference to product families as well which would include many unlisted processors.

The following Intel-based platforms are impacted by this issue. Intel may modify this list at a later time. Please check with your system vendor or equipment manufacturer for more information regarding updates for your system.

    Sorry, I overlooked that.

    In the end, my plans:
    * Make a list of all my systems. To check off each, since not all of them are currently used.
    * Patch the OSes, like I currently do.
    * Patch the applications and libraries, like I currently do. There are compiler updates which will impact almost all programs and libraries. We all need these too. Don't forget snaps and flatpaks and manually installed programs (/usr/local/).
    * Look for firmware/BIOS patches in about a week from each motherboard and system vendor. I don't want/need to be on the bleeding edge, so if they aren't found easily, waiting another week, month, 6 months isn't an issue.
    * Continue using high-risk programs inside containers or jails (firejail is handy) with fairly secure settings. No JS, no flash, no pdf viewing in browsers or email programs. Simplified HTML only in email.

Am I reading this list right Intel Core 2 Duo processors aren't affected as I don't see them listed.

    Thanks

I'm with TheFu on this one: I'll assume everything from Intel is compromised and I'll believe the exceptions when I see it, test it and prove it.

Look at the note on top regarding product family.
Product family: Systems with Speculative Execution

This includes most intel processors going back 20 years or so.

Kinda figured as much and would rather be safe behind a wall then out in the line of fire.

Thanks for the replies figured this is the place to find the right answers.

Going to have a couple shots of "Wild Turkey 101" and keep trying to learn and understand all of this.

    Thanks again.

Re: Meltdown and Spectre Discussion Sticky

Hi! I've got a computer with Xubuntu 14.04 lts. Will it receive the meltdown and spectre patches? I know Xubuntu 14.04 has run out of support but so has ubuntu 12.04 lts and it is going to receive the patch too according to what I read in https://insights.ubuntu.com/2018/01/...lnerabilities/

So, do I have to upgrade to the next Xubuntu release (compatibility issues are expected I think) or should I expect the patch on Xubuntu 14.04 lts? In case it doesn't update... is there a way to manually force the update of the patch or manual installation?

    Thanks.
