    matlab install

    Hi all,

back again for another go at getting into linux and stopping booting my machine in windows.....

I have been having fun accessing the cluster at school to run some CFD simulations and all is going well on that front. I now have some sets of data that i need to start dealing with so i want matlab back in my life.

I have downloaded and run the installer, well until the end when i was told i need ed 'supported compiler for c and c++' and 'Dova Creation JDK', gone through the proses of activating and all seemed to go well but now i have no idea how to open matlab?

i did nothing about needing 'supported compiler for c and c++' and 'Dova Creation JDK'

    what do i do???

Thanks in advance for your help and advice.

    Re: matlab install

Have you tried opening a terminal and typing
    Code:
    matlab
AFAIK you only need C/C++ compilers if you plan on using MEX

I have also noticed as i have just navigated through the directories using the GUI that the files all have a little padlock simbole in there lower right hand corner. Is this a clue to anyone why matlab is not opening as i would expect??
