Have a vehicle that requires connection to windows and unfortunately I don't have windows. I need to use this software to update my GPS maps etc.
Can anyone provide pointers on best way to add a windows os in my virtual box?

Microsoft Windows is proprietary software, so there's no such thing as a free windows version.

You can also try sign up for the insider program. In the past getting into the program meant a "free" windows 10 license.

Click on "register your personal account".

You need to sign up first before you can use the keys. I'm not sure if these are still valid, maybe there are new ones out.
That offer is long past.
To get into the Windows Insider program now, one must have a current, legally activated installation of Windows 10 to get the Insider updates. There is no free iso any longer.
Even current Windows Insiders (like me) cannot get free isos.

A thing discovered and kept to oneself must be discovered time and again by others. A thing discovered and shared with others need be discovered only the once.
This universe is crazy. I'm going back to my own.
Maybe this could help: https://developer.microsoft.com/en-u...dge/tools/vms/. Be careful to check T&Cs. Or if you are prepared to pay, https://softwaregeeks.co.uk/. I wonder whether a Windows guest on a Linux host will be able to see your GPS. I suspect that the answer to that may be "it depends".
OK thanks Guys!
You can sign up for Enterprise evaluation versions.
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/eval...-10-enterprise
They expire after 90 days, but the evaluation period can be renewed a couple of times by typing a simple command in the terminal. After that, you will need to reinstall fresh.
Make sure you abide by the license agreement. It may have limitations regarding use for real work. If you think you'll be using Windows long term, it is much simpler to buy a copy.
