For the record, this is what I did:
- Checked "Pre-released updates (xenial-proposed) in Software & Updates > Developer Options
- Launched Software Updater and installed everything it had to offer
- Rebooted
- Almost spilled my coffee after seeing how well everything scaled
- Unchecked the "Pre-released updates" option in Software & Updates
