How to open .exe files with Wine in 17.10

I've been away for a bit, but I'm surprised to see that you can't just open .exe files with a double click to run them through wine. Why is that? Is there a way to make it do that again?

Right click the .exe file and look and the "open with" settings.
See if an option to set A wine application is there and set it as default.
(Also could be called something like Wine Windows Program Loader)

Once use set the default for "open with" on any given file extension, it'll run all other files with that extension.

This doesn't work in 17.10. there is no wine application launcher in the list. Looks like a bug report is in order.
