17.10/wayland: slightly blurred fonts in gnome-shell and qt applications

Folks, using Ubuntu 17.10 pre-release, I noticed that while using GNOME with Wayland instead of Xorg, I see fonts in some applications (GNOME shell upper-right menu, VirtualBox and a bunch of other Qt applications, as well as some GNOME-Shell extensions such as gnome-weather) are different to the rest of the desktop and appear slightly "blurred" and less sharp than in the rest of the applications. Using Xorg, this doesn't happen. Anything that can be done about this? Any way to track down what exactly is happening here?
Thanks in advance and all the best,
    Kristian

Not sure if this is related to Wayland/Xorg. I upgraded to 17.10 today, and using Xorg I'm having the exact same issues. (Can't test with Wayland, because my graphics card is from NVidia.)
