Hello,

I just reinstalled Ubuntu 17.04 from scratch with an existing /home partition which was previously used on 16.10.
Upon install, everything is working fine except for gedit. When I open gedit, I am getting a sort of ghosting of the gedit window. When it initially opens, the window will show the background of whatever is already open (i.e. a webpage from Chrome), and that image will stay in the gedit window regardless of how I drag the window across the screen.
If I open a file with text, it becomes a big blur of black - unreadable. If I highlight the text, it is readable, but as soon as I unselect the text, it becomes a blur again.

I tried installing the nvidia driver (and rebooted the system to make it active) in case it was a display issue. That doesn't appear to help.

I am using an Asus Zenbook UX303L. It has a Nvidia GeForce 840M card built in.
I am not seeing any error messages if I launch gedit from commandline.

Any advice is much appreciated.
