    So we wait a couple of weeks or less and do: https://ubuntuforums.org/showthread....3#post11893873 once we find out the official name of the next release. Otherwise we can use /devel but that has to be changed eventually.

    Once we know the name of the next repo, we can move in there, but without the "Ubuntu new-name (development branch)".
    I have simply moved Ubuntu Gnome from 17.04 to 17.10, for example, quite sometime ago and I have up to date 17.10 distro without naming it development branch. I did the same with Xubuntu. No hiccups.

    But a new tester or current user intending to test the release candidate - no such luck !

    I used the same image. It freezes at Plymouth. I built a temp workaround for it. On some machine the nVidia driver will work. You are not using nouveau driver. I should have mentioned that. No wayland for you?

    I have the hybrid system and with nouveau the graphic card do not switch to intel (always uses nvidia) so i installed the prop. nvidia
    with nvidia prime profile no wayland
    with intel prime profile wayland works but synaptic does not so i log with the "X session"
    i need synaptic because software does not find many packages ...

    Its not about the release candidate, or nvdia drivers, or nouveau, or even wayland, but about something else. Do please read the #1 post. I haven't been installing any dailies for quite a while. And, that's what I was talking about.
