I'm using Thunderbird and everytimeI send a message it is sent twice. This has been happening for a long time now. To reproduce this just check your sent messages folder after sending a message.

I just found the soultion, go to Account settings in Preferences. Click on the section Copies and folders. Uncheck "Place a copy"
