how do I access the Panel Properties dialog?

In Ubuntu 16.04.2 desktop, my desktop's left panel is much too narrow. I understand I can get the Panel Properties dialog by context-clicking (right-clicking) the panel, but, maybe because the panel is full of icons, about 121 of them, I haven't found a place, even by scrolling to the bottom of the panel, where I can click and get that dialog. Do I have to delete almost all of the icons and then bring them back (slowly) when I'm done with the dialog? Is there an easier way to get the dialog?

You've prefixed this (and all your other threads) as UbuntuGnome.
Is this Gnome-shell or Ubuntu's unity desktop?

I don't see Applications (for Applications > Settings > Panel); it's not a panel menu or in System Settings; is Applications in a different desktop environment?

I thought I saw somewhere that this Ubuntu release is using Gnome and I didn't change from the default desktop environment. It now looks like I'm wrong about the DE and it's Unity, not Gnome, but I'm not sure. The page at https://insights.ubuntu.com/2017/07/...st-challenges/ implies I'm using Unity.

I prefixed UbuntuGnome only for three, not all, but that's minor.

In unity go to System Settings >> Appearance, you can set the icon size in the launcher here.
(There's no adjusting of just the launcher though. It's either adjust the icon which in turn adjusts the launcher panel, or nothing)

Perhaps, but people will skip over threads for DEs they think you're using if they don't use what you've prefixed, or/and will give advice for a DE you aren't actually running.

Re: how do I access the Panel Properties dialog?

You're right about my mistake on DE. It looks like I can't change the prefix or I would have.

I tried the panel's extremes of 16 (I guess pixels) and 64; at 16 I can see but hardly recognize 29 icons and at 32 I can see and recognize 18 icons but I have about 121. So I guess this should be a query about the new DE coming soon to Ubuntu.
