    You just about always can fix Ubuntu unless hardware failure, but many times it is quicker to reinstall and restore data from your backups. You do have backups?

    And if you want a separate /home partition, you have to use the Something Else install option. And if /home has data you still choose it (change button) but DO NOT check the format box or else it is erased.

    Any install with Something Else which is required with external drives or any second drive or any install with separate /home
    Also shows combo box with location of grub2 boot loader

    Reinstalled everything without any data partition. Bought a cloud space back up for data storage. I do not think I'll try again to put up a partition.
    Everything works fine this way.
