How to show a program that spans more than one screen

I have a laptop, an Acer Apsire One. When i try to use some applications on it they do not fit on the screen or the bottoms of the apps are hidden by the bottomm toolbar. Is there a way to show a program that is partly on one screen and partly on another? It used to be possible but it does not seem to work anymore. I can not click on the buttons at the bottom of the program to get the program to do what it needs to do.

Is there any easy way around this?

I'm trying to use Play On Linux Wine frontend in Debian Linux but can't click on the link at the bottom of the box that says install a non-listed application.
