    is clamav good I heard it wasn't very affective I tried downloading comodo but didn't allow me to so I just my updates everyday and I use firefox for one thing and chromium for another

    I use clamav on my email server, nowhere else. AV scanners on Linux scan for Windows malware, so it really isn't needed on a non-Windows network.

    Plus, even the best native Windows virus/malware scanners are only about 50% effective. If you run 3-5 of them, that gets to about 80% effectiveness.

    Worrying about AV just isn't productive any more, especially on Linux/Unix systems. Get some versioned backups working.
