HP 17-bs011dx with Realtek RTL8723DE will not connect to wifi

I have a HP 17-bs011dx with what Windows 10 identifies as a Realtek RTL8723DE wifi chip that will not connect to wifi. Any help will be appreciated.

Below is the results of the network script.

    Hi

    Look here...https://zach-adams dot com /2014/06/fixing-rtl8723ae-driver-ubuntu-linux/

    and he basically says

    sudo apt-get install linux-firmware-nonfree
    sudo apt-get install wicd wicd-gtk wicd-daemon wicd-cli wicd-curses

    and a reboot.

The nonfree part worked for me with Debian, I have a HP 17-XXXXXX with a Realtek RTL8723BE.
    CONDITION: Something loose in cockpit.

    SOLUTION: Something tightened in cockpit.

There is no package linux-firmware-nonfree in Ubuntu 17.04. Also, if his device lacks a proper driver, using Wicd instead of Network Manager will be ineffective.

I am unable to find any proper driver for this new rtl8723de device.

So far, there is only a Windows driver available which you could try with Ndiswrapper:

It doesn't appear as though I can use Ndiswrapper because there is no Windows XP driver.

I tried the Windows 7 driver using these instructions found here https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Wi...er/Ndiswrapper. Ndiswrapper does not seem to work properly. The device does not appear.

Same problem here! An HP laptop as well. Do you have any progress troubleshooting?

No luck so far. I either use an external Netgear 6210A USB adapter, or a connected wired. However, I keep hoping a Linux driver for the built-in wifi will be released soon.

Ok, so far there is no Realtek driver available. Maybe contacting Larry Finger?
