If you are using default Ubuntu installation with GUI, then you can change DNS information in Network Connection Manager Settings icon shown besides the time and battery. After changing it you need to restart the NetworkManager or disable / enable networking through the same icon settings.

    Salutations!

#see what anspectrum said ... unless you are on a server without a GUI DE .. then you need to Edit /etc/resolv.conf and add the dns nameserver there , not dhclient.conf!

    #see :https://help.ubuntu.com/lts/servergu...iguration.html

    Re: can't change my dns?

then you need to Edit /etc/resolv.conf and add the dns nameserver there ,
    However, resolv.conf clearly says:
    # Dynamic resolv.conf(5) file for glibc resolver(3) generated by resolvconf(8)
    # DO NOT EDIT THIS FILE BY HAND --
    # YOUR CHANGES WILL BE OVERWRITTEN
You are far better off to edit connections in Network Manager like this: http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-7yAL1fjG_N...25283%2529.png

    Re: can't change my dns?

You can add servers permanently by editing the file /etc/resolvconf/resolv.conf.d/head like this:
    Code:
    # Dynamic resolv.conf(5) file for glibc resolver(3) generated by resolvconf(8)
    # DO NOT EDIT THIS FILE BY HAND --
    # YOUR CHANGES WILL BE OVERWRITTEN
    nameserver 8.8.8.8
    nameserver 8.8.4.4
Save the file and reboot. Now this header will be placed atop /etc/resolv.conf, and the Google servers will be contacted first.
If you ask for help, do not abandon your request. Please have the courtesy to check for responses and thank the people who helped you.
