I recently switched my display manager for Ubuntu GNOME to LightDM, because it's so much better than GDM. Although the switch was successful, LightDM doesn't show wallpapers like it does in Ubuntu Unity 16.04. How can I fix the problem?

Beware that Lightdm on Ubuntu works best with unity-greeter and this could add unwanted packages and problems to your system. (Just saying)
