    alternatives to WOT?

I'm a long-time WOT (Web of Trust) user it has protected me from many phishing sites, Ubuntu might be immune from viruses, but it's not immune from phishing sites that tricks the user.

I know that WOT is back on the Chrome's webstore, but I don't trust them, not after they've been caught selling user data to 3rd parties, anyone know some good alternatives for WOT for Firefox and Chromium?

I would try setting up an OpenDNS account to setup your own filters.

I read somewhere OpenDNS records your activity, is that true?

I use OpenDNS. It keeps stats on my usage, but have no idea if they share any information. The privacy policy link on the OpenDNS website now links to a Cisco website (I think OpenDNS is now part of Cisco), which has a bunch of rhetoric about valuing privacy.
