Now that the pressure if off on developing Unity, maybe the devs (few, who'd still care) would keep it stable and working. Ubuntu should have its own flagship DE, whatever its name, not someone else's. Yes I understand this. It is a hard coded file and I need to see if I can merge it or use another command to 'get' the version number. I actually worked on this during 12.04 development, to prempt the <lsb_release -a> after version code was updated but I dropped it because it was a closed team at that time, I could work a hack on my own box but it wasn't implemented. There are tons of issues and guaranteed there will be more come 18.04. It will break. Regards..
Never ceases to amaze me.....
Ok.. got mine fixed temp

Did you simply change /usr/share/unity-control-center/ui/UbuntuLogo.png? Also, do you think 18.04 would break Unity? Edit: I'll keep on using 17.10 only with Unity to see how far it'd live on. I am using it now all the time, without using other Ubuntu 17.10 (Openbox, Xubuntu, KDE) installs. They get upgraded once a week. Ubuntu Unity 17.10 gets upgraded everyday, if any available.

Hence the comments from Canonical people at the beginning of this which pretty much said - if you want to use it, maintain it. If it ends up with no maintainers from the community then it'll go the way of anything else that is unmaintained. I guess that it will end up in Universe.

I had thought it was being called from the system but it is called from a .png file. If it ain't broke, don't fix it I'll have to wait most likely until end of this cycle to see what list Will Cooke will send me up. I got two solid and experienced persons to help me. It may take more and I am sure others will jump in. Regards..

We will know more in the coming weeks. I know your hands are full with xubuntu but you are certainly invited to join the team. Regards..
