    Need help installing a game,

The game in question is Runescape. I have installed the game, but when I open it my screen flashes black, and once it's "loaded" it just displays a black screen like so: https://i.imgur.com/HGMXt4F.png

Just getting into ubuntu recently, so I am at a bit of a loss where to begin, I tried to irc channel but I couldn't get anywhere at the time.

It's sort of an odd laptop, if you need any more info to help diagnose you will have to tell me what you need, along with what terminal prompts I will require to show you.

Re: Need help installing a game,

Jeez you have a lot of different version installed.

    try with:
    Code:
    sudo apt-get install oracle-java9-set-default
    If it's already installed try:
    Code:
    sudo update-alternatives --config java

Re: Need help installing a game,

    Maybe this workaround will work:

    http://services.runescape.com/m=foru...748539,goto,90
Might be related: Linux Black game after update
I experience the black screen every time I launch the game.
Sometimes it's garbled graphics or "something colorful" instead of black screen.
Workaround for this case is to change window size (and then change back), and the graphics reset themselves... until rendering becomes all messed up after awhile, or after switching location.
Then you have to change window sizes again, switch to lobby and back into game, and no more graphical issues until I close the client.
And then later kicks in the audio issue... but this is a story for another rant

Re: Need help installing a game,

    What does
    Code:
    java –version
    now return?
If you install Buntu 17.10 remember to download a new ISO file.

Old files might contain a bug which can damage UEFI hardware. Updating an existing installation and upgrading to 17.10 (if one has faith in upgrades in general) are safe.
