Hello, I am new to this. Need help with an installation.

I am trying to install Ubuntu on a Dell Precision 370 I was gifted. I created a USB installer with Unetbootin on my mac. I can boot from this on the PC but the Ubuntu installer does not give me the option to erase the disk. It also claims this computer has no disk space though there is a 1T drive which the BIOS sees. The installer has various errors and now is frozen on "Getting time from network time server". Should I be going about this a different way?

What OS is on the machine at present?

You say "the Ubuntu installer does not give me the option to erase the disk"; so what options does it give you?
Have you attempted using the "Something Else" option when installing? If so, you should there see all the current partitions on the hard disk.
Is the Dell Precision 370 using UEFI mode or legacy BIOS?

Much more info needed to be able to give you any useful assistance.

That would appear to be an older low-spec computer, correct? It would help to know the exact hardware specs if possible.

I would suggest you try Lubuntu instead of default Ubuntu, Lubuntu has lower system requirements and may work better on older hardware.
