Question Preventing data loss when battery drains (hibernate or alternative)

I have a System76 Lemur lemu6 laptop. It does not have hibernate enabled. I am concerned that I will lose data if I leave the machine unattended without power or otherwise fail to manually shutdown before the battery drains. This makes using the system risky. My understanding is that hibernate is not supported. Is there an alternative setup that I could use to prevent data loss in the event of full battery drain?

Hibernation is not supported or enabled by default but it may be possible to enable it on your laptop.

    See:-

    https://help.ubuntu.com/14.04/ubuntu...hibernate.html

I use it often in 16.04 on an old laptop with a worn out battery, and it is my default instead of suspend when the laptop gets to the power threshold.
