    HP Stream

I have put Ubuntu on my main PC. Also installed on my HP Stream laptop, HP Stream 11. However the touch pad loses some function on the HP Stream. Doing some research, but so far, no luck. The driver is known as Synaptic's in windows. If I plug in a USB mouse, things are normal, I can left click, right click, middle click, drag and drop, etc. But on Ubuntu the touch pad, it loses functions. I have tried updating drivers on the system, but no luck. The touch pad is only half functional. Meaning that for my laptop, I must also lug around a mouse and a sturdy pad.

Welcome. You say the touchpad loses some function but have omitted to give a detailed description of exactly which ...

So, the touchpad is not working. How is it not working? Yes, the driver is Synaptic. Look in 'Mouse and Touchpad' and see if there's a setting there you can tweak. Not sure which as have no idea what the touchpad's 'missing functionality' is.
