I have noticed steady decline since Gnome 3 and I agree social media sites are a factor as well. There were many PPA's dedicated to customizing Gnome 2 especially around the time of 10.04 and 10.10.

So what is so great about Ubuntu/Reddit I have been looking it over and don't see anything so special about it.

I used to love those threads too but now I just use the same non-standard desktop wallpaper on each of my PCs or laptops. That wallpaper hasn't changed for what must be a couple of years now. As for the themes, I use whatever is standard or comes as part of the Ubuntu flavour that I am using. I don't go looking for alternatives on the web.

Hey PaulW2U,

I don't care about any of this "Twitter, Facebook and Google+" and never did.

I have looked over different Ubuntu Forums but none of them seem to have the how to information that is available here.

Yeah I'm 60 years old.

I've wonder that as well. I don't post on Reddit very often
cause I never know if I'll be pm'ed or not and have someone
attack me for having an opinion they don't like.
The people here are much nicer. And then there is Facebook,which I just don't use.

I think the main difference is the community, Linuxratty, and why I'm feeling comfortable here. The media and the community.

Not being that young either, I use social networks but for other purposes, FB for family and friends, twitter/linkedin for work. As it can drain a lot of my time, I do not use them that much. But not for Ubuntu related things.
