    replace battery on Galago?

    Hi!

I have a Galago UltraPro (galu1) which I am very happy with. It is a little over a year old (so out-of-warranty) and the battery is in pretty bad shape. Can I replace it myself? Is there anything I should know in order to do so (specs of the battery, ...)?

    Thanks very much!

    Hugh

I also have a Galago UltraPro, so im curious about this. I did find a few links to buy them. However fitting them could be quite an ordeal.

Maybe someone here knows about if fitting is really a possibility. FYI the Galago is basically a CLEVO W740SU, so the batteries should fit just the same.

I just took mine apart because the battery exploded and pushed the touchpad out of the body. Remove the many screws on the back, the back comes of easily, exposing the batter. It is held in place by a few internal screws and is attached by an easy to remove connector. I removed my battery, put the back back on and am now awaiting a replacement battery.

Sent an email to System76 asking how much they want for a replacement... Awaiting a response.

    Re: replace battery on Galago?

For the record, System76 was happy to sell me a battery, though the links suggested above would have been a cheaper option. Replacing it went fine. It isn't something I would recommend to someone completely un-handy -- the first time I put it back together after replacing the battery, I realized I had done it wrong. The battery fits easily, but there are screws which have to go through the battery case and then screw into the laptop case, which I found a little tricky. Anyway, though, this was my first time ever opening up a laptop, so probably anyone else who would consider trying this would be able to do it too.

Hope you took the time to use a little pressurized air cleaner for computers to clean out the laptop at the time.
