terminal problem with password entry

when I try to use terminal after my first return I am asked for my password but when I try to type in my password the flashing cursor ignores anything and continues to flash.
I have tried to do a return after the cursor and I can type in my password but it is the rejected with wrong password.

Any suggestions.

Ignore the cursor when typing your password in terminal as no feedback is normal

The terminal won't show any input when you enter the password, that isn't a problem.

If it isn't accepting your password, you would almost certainly be using an incorrect password ?
