What is a good Ubuntu 3d character software?

I was wondering what is a good 3d suite for Ubuntu? I am trying to get into 3d CGI art and I am currently running Ubuntu 14. Other than Blender what is a good software I can use?
Sorry I am new to the forums and not sure where to post this?

Other than Blender, there's Blender. And Blender. Oh, there's also Blender.

Well, you could have a blink at k3d and aoi I guess... or Google Sketchup.

Depends on what type of 3d modelling and whether you are willing to pay for a product.

Blender as far as open source is about the best choice, but if it's modelling/animation for games/3d characters in general or the likes there is also leadwerks and Silo as well as Ogre3d.

Wait, Google Sketchup isn't available for Linux is it? And on the same area, is Wings3D available for Linux? I remember using wings for low poly for mobile ages ago.

only through Wine (or a Windows VM) but sometimes you can't be picky.

lots of the alternatives (particularly 3D engines) have a "blender exporter" first thing in their list of tools.

didn't pixar or whoever made their tools open source recently? http://www.engadget.com/2015/08/11/p...cription-tool/
