Unhappy Ubuntu 16.04 and Intel Z170 Chipset/6th-Gen CPUs

    Hello,

I want to build a new PC to run Ubuntu, using a latest ASUS motherboard with a Skylake (6th generation) Intel CPU and Z170 Chipset.
More specifically, I'm thinking to get one of the following motherboards:
    Z170-Pro
    Z170-A
    Maximus VIII Ranger

As I can see from various other discussions there were some incompatibility problems with previous Ubuntu versions and latest Asus motherboards (mainly with on-board Audio card, Graphics or Ethernet interface)

Anyone used Ubuntu 16.04 with similar Hardware? Did you have to make any changes in BIOS or boot parameters to make things work?

It's strange if Skylake/Z170 Chipset is not fully supported yet, since there are many people already using them

    Thanks,

    Harry

I decided to retire my 10 year old laptop and just use a SFF system as retired and not traveling.

This was pretty much my build, but I paid just a couple buck more and ordered everything from Amazon for convenience.

It took me about 3 hours to assemble and it worked first time boot. I built it before 16.04 was released but installed from a daily and that just worked. Many others seem to have issues with laptops and their unique configurations, or dual video with Intel & nVidia. But AMD video is in the middle of changing to only open source drivers and not all AMD are well supported in 16.04.

I debated between Asus & Gigabyte but wanted the smaller board for the SFF system.
    My desktop is Asus Z97-A.

Both systems required many UEFI settings to correctly get them to work with UEFI.
