Touchscreen moves mouse but can't click

After installing Ubuntu 16.04 on my Lenovo IdeaCentre C560 I'm able to move the mouse cursor on my touchscreen, but the left mouse button doesn't click on anything. The Xorg.0.log shows "TouchScreen: No buttons found, faking one."

I even tried installing Ubuntu 14.04. with X11 1.16.0 which is supported by the manufacturer driver http://www.irtouchusa.com/download.htm but without success.

Has somebody an idea on how to solve this?
