Haven't found any confirmation around the internet but as 16.04 will include kernel 4.x will they be doing auto patching? It may seem like a simple answer as it's built into kernel 4.x but suse do not have auto patching on their kernel 4.x so it's a genuine question for me.
*bump* any confirmation?
Thread moved to Ubuntu Development Version. You could download the ISO, create live media, 'Try Ubuntu' and have a look around.

I don't think I've seen any live patching as of yet, so probably not.
Splat Double Splat Triple Splat Earn Your Keep Don't mind me, I'm only passing through. Once in a blue moon, I'm actually helpful.
If you mean upgrading the kernel without the need to re-start then I would say the answer is, it has not been implemented yet. I also think that systemd is requiring restarts as well. So, as far as I can tell the number of restarts during the development cycle has increased. Regards
It is a machine. It is more stupid than we are. It will not stop us from doing stupid things. Ubuntu user #33,200. Linux user #530,530
Thanks @Deadflower and grahammechanical I guess the options for live patching were just a dream then. It would be nice in the future to have something like that but I doubt it's going to happen any time soon.
