I have certainly seen no laggardly behaviour so far today, and I have been prowling around quite a lot, and posted several times.

Now you come to mention it, yes. They do seem very fast today. Much faster than I am used to.
Something that I've noticed of late and have not seen here previously, sometimes it takes a good while (maybe 15 seconds or so) to show a screenshot attached to a post or as a thumbnail
I've had the opposite experience for most of the weekend. Retrieving posts and forum listings has often taken upwards of ten seconds including just now. As I recall there was supposed to be a major server upgrade at Canonical. Did that happen? Was the database server upgraded as well? I still believe most of the delays concern contention over the database. Does the forum have a dedicated DB server, or are you sharing resources with others?
