You will get the standard "System reboot required" which shows up (depending on setup) in the following locations
1) Taskbar/Tray (GUI, dependent on Update manager)
2) MOTD when you login.
Note that this will require you to depend on the "update-notifier-common" package, which is installed by default on Ubuntu desktops (not sure about anything other than Kubuntu and Ubuntu, never used them). On Ubuntu servers, an ISO install will have update-notifier by default, but some OVZ/KVM/XEN/etc OS templates are missing this package. It seems to be missing most commonly in OVZ/XEN-PV VM's due to the shared kernel with the host (hence the lack of need for update-notifier which is normally used for notifying reboots after a kernel update)
Don't waste your energy trying to change opinions ... Do your thing, and don't care if they like it.
