    Dash/application menu

I remember on older versions of Ubuntu that the unity dash uses to show my most used applications.

Now on 14.10 all it shows is a random lists of 6 applications some I've never used.

Is there any way to have it only show my most recently used, and to show more than 6?

When I move from the home dash into applications I'd rather not have "more suggestions" and also the recently used list in their is wrong. It again contains applications I've never used.

Ubuntu 14.10 (Utopic Unicorn) End of Life reached on July 23, 2015.
May have better luck upgrading to 15.04.

Personally I never upgrade... just fresh install to avoid potential problems.

    Re: Dash/application menu

    My mistake I'm on 14.04

So that is still very much in the life cycle.

I have got 15.04 though, so might be worth a fresh install, as my current version was an upgrade.

Even on 14.04 I find the recent applications in the dash flakey.
The home screen should show more than 6 though.
The applications screen only shows me 6.

Well I've installed 15.04 and it's exactly the same.

It doesn't remember which apps have been used recently

    Re: Dash/application menu

May depend on which Ubuntu release,
    In 14.04 here -
In Dash home the top line reflects last 7 apps used in order, left to right.
In Applications lens the last 6 used (Recently used
No app (.desktop) that is locked to the launcher is added to either of the above.
    This is updated immediately.

In 15.10 it's the same except updating is not timely, will show after a log out/in or maybe some period of time.
In 15.04 haven't looked, would not be surprised if it's the same as 15.10

    Re: Dash/application menu

Mine seems to only show apps that I have never used at all. In both 14.04 and 15.04

No amount of logging in out or resetting has changed that so far.

Is there a way to reset the list?

    Re: Dash/application menu

Just checked 15.04, it works like 14.04, updated immediately.
Maybe ck. System settings > Security & Privacy > Files & Apps.., see if you disabled something. You could clear usage data & see if it picks up again.

    Re: Dash/application menu

I'm seeing the last 15 icons selected under see more results. Some of the 15 were never used just removed from the launcher and show up as recent anyway.

    Re: Dash/application menu

App recording was turned off. I've turned it on and it's working correctly now.

    Thanks
