Validity Fingerprint Scanner help!

I have a HP Elitebook 8440p with a validity vfs451 fingerprint reader that just won't work. I've tried installing drivers after drivers and tried fprint demo and fingerprint gui and they haven't detected it but it fingerprint gui, it shows me in a list of connected devices, one of which is the fingerprint sensor. I have no idea how to get this to work. Help would be greatly appreciated!
