What do you do when you install Ubuntu?

Connect to the Xorg repository and get the proper Nvidia driver for my GTX580 otherwise I can log in and do things for 2 minutes before it locks solid.
Install my printer.
Install Infinality to improve font rendering.

First things on installing Ubuntu 15.04.

Update, Upgrade, change init, add ppas

Remove all the "cruft" Amazon, games and the likes

Install Chromium, ffmpeg, codecs, copy.com app

Install Telegram, Skype and the other bits and bobs i use daily.

Sit back have a ciggy and a nice coffee!

On a fresh install something along the lines of...

Code:

sudo -i
apt-get update
apt-get upgrade
dpkg --set-selections < pkgs.bk
apt-get dselect-upgrade

Fix any issues with the above commands.

1. Install all available updates.
2. Add Google repo
3. Install Chrome
4. Log into chrome.
5. Add NFS network shares to FSTAB
6. Restore backup.
7. Install stuff.

Update & upgrade, Install synaptic and restricted Extras, then move on to installing Terminator, Qbittorrent, uGet, GIMP, Amork, VLC and SM player, Chromium to link my google account, and bunch of FIrefox add-ons like ghostery, ABP, script blocker, spell checker, Flash got and pushbullet to share notifications from my Android device.

Then I'm pretty happy with everything and rarely do anything other than updating and upgrading.
