Smile Installing a new SSD on a macbook pro

    Hello Ubuntu community,

I am currently stumped on getting this new SSD in as my primary drive. I have a Macbook Pro mid 2009 and have also replaced the disk drive for another SSD. The hardware installation is easy for me, but the part I am having trouble with is getting the macbook to find the Ubuntu on the SSD (Had to install it using another computer and a live disk). I get a blank screen with a question mark and a disk behind it. Has anyone installed an SSD on their Macbook with linux on it? How did you do it? Will I be needing a USB to SATA cable to make a copy of my current HDD? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

There should be absolutely no difference between installing in a HDD or a SSD.

That's what I thought too but it seems like I have to go through the motions of putting OS X and then putting Linux on because for some reason it wont identify that the partition is on there. Unless there is some way to point it at start up which I have no clue to do. It's a breeze when it comes to Windows to Linux installations but Apple is a real pain in my side.

True, but that has nothing to do with the drive technology.
