Turn off fancy syntax in my own posts

Hello,

So, I use the Conkeror Firefox extension to browse the web. This means that there are emacs-y keybindings for, like, everything--including typing in text boxes. Is there a way to turn off whatever it is that inserts bold markers when I press control-b (for example)? It would really make posting a ton easier for me not to have to switch over to the arrow keys or attempt to use my nearly non-functional laptop keypad any time I need to back up a few characters.

If you user CP you can turn off the wyswig editor if you wish.

Well, the thing is, I tried switching it to the "plain text box only" mode...however, ctrl-B still inserts "" instead of going back a space (the behavior I want). But thanks anyway!
