Google Maps Requirements Linux (Not Firefox)

Hi everyone. I use Firefox as my daily browser and Google Maps for my main mapping site. I have been running in 'classic' mode since the new preview came out because it was way too slow. I noticed today a notice that the classic version is going away leaving only the new version.

I went here to read about it. According to the requirements Linux (not using Firefox) is accepted.

Anyone know why Firefox is not meeting their requirments in Linux (it is not singled out for any other OS)?

I just tried the new maps in Chrome and it is WAY faster.

Any ideas why that is and if Firefox plans to remedy what ever the issue is?

    Thanks!

Probably something to do with webgl not enabled by default or not accelerated. You can enable them manually in supported hardware though not sure how well it work. http://askubuntu.com/questions/29840...ew-google-maps

If it doesn't work you will be sent to lite mode according to the link you posted so it will still work in FF, just without 3d features
