    Graphics Card Wattage question

I have the HP Small Form factor dc5800 computer.

Am I right in assuming this graphics card would work fine as the graphic card maximum usage is 17.5 watts.

Link to card on ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Nvidia-NVS-3...item2c97eef81c

2 photos attached - one of card specs and one of my cpu specs (use small form factor)

    Hi!

Specs can differ even between machine labeled as the same year.

What is key here is the nominal maximum wattage of the power supply (by rail) and the total maximum wattage of all the subsystems powered from that rail.

So a really good answer would have to include some understanding of your power supply.

You may not have those details, unfortunately.

We can hazard a reasonable guess from the total rated wattage of the power supply, however. Do you have that?

(My suspicion is that you will be just fine, but I don't want you to break your machine!)

just look of hte wattage of your CPU id image you have a 35 or 65W chip
unless you have something like a 120W chip i would not worry about it

I'd say you should be just fine. That graphics card consumes very little power.

    Thanks, I ordered it.

I know it's not a very powerful card, but it should enhance the system some.

    Marking this thread as solved.

p.s. I assume I need the DMS-59 to VGA adapter and not the DVI to VGA adapter.

i know that is not a DVI plug on that card, looks like some proprietary junk you see on dells, in this case has 2 DVI/VGA plugs on 1 plug

    I'm fairly confident it's a DMS-59. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

A common use of this card was to let business use 2 monitors.

I'm not really interested in 2 monitors, although I find the concept intriguing.
