Remove previous Linux Installs from W8.1 This PC

I have been trying out different distro's, trying to find the one that fits me best. Therefore, when I open Windows Explorer in 8.1, I have 16 partitions showing for Linux installs. I am actually installing my Linux OS's, to a USB HDD that Windows sees as a permanently mounted drive. Now I have removed every distro, and formatted the entire HDD several times but I guess I failed to actually uninstall the OS's. I'm not sure exactly what I did or didn't do that I should have. How do I get Windows 8.1 to forget these were installed, or being partitioned, or whatever, so that these no longer show up.
