Broken Pipe

Hello!

I have been running Ubuntu 14.04 for some time now and when I went to log in today it stalls at a black screen that says Could not write bytes: Broken pipe.

I have tried to open a terminal from there and it does not work.

Can anyone help? I can get into recovery mode and have used he options like fix broken packages but it says everything is up to date.

Try renaming the hidden hidden file .Xauthority in your home directory and reboot.
