    New! Ubuntu Find-A-Task

The Ubuntu Community Hub has a listing of various ways volunteers can contribute.
    https://community.ubuntu.com/c/documentation

    Give it a try.
It's a great place to refer new volunteers to see the many ways the can improve Ubuntu.
Lots of non-technical volunteers wanted, too.

If you're on a team or project, and want to add a listing, drop by #ubuntu-community-team

    Re: New! Ubuntu Find-A-Task

What would be the best use for me as a volunteer? I have a B.A in computer science, four year degree. Yet, I have little programming experience other than the Java assignments I was given in the classroom. I'm intimidated by the idea of programming out of the class room. I want to find out if I really can program or I should look into another field.

I've used Ubuntu and Xubuntu for about seven months now. See intro thread for more details.

Basically, what is the easiest task that involves using my computer science degree that would be helpful to Ubuntu? Please tell me I'm not the only computer science graduate who is scared that my degree is for naught and that programming in the classroom is nothing like programming on the job and I will end up working at a fast food chain for the rest of my life.

    Hello!

None of us are Canonical employees, so it would be tough for us to match any particular skills to a particular task. I would suggest browsing through the tasks at the url given to see what interests you. Remember that contributions need not be technical.

    Cheers!

    Re: New! Ubuntu Find-A-Task

The best way to contribute to Ubuntu is whatever task you find most fulfilling.
    Only you can decide that.

The purpose of Find-A-Task is to give you ideas and some entry points to try.

Try a few, see what you like.
When you get bored or frustrated, or your life changes, then try something different.

I am learning about Weyland (Yutani) I might be able to contribute on that.
