    Yes, load the drivers:
    Code:
    sudo modprobe -v ath9k
    sudo modprobe -v alx
    sudo depmod -a
    sudo update-initramfs -u

Re: problem with Atheros AR9285 Wireless

@Nanogravity, I have split your post and praseodym's reply into their own thread, and given it a relevant title. The thread you posted to concerned a different wireless network adapter and different version of Ubuntu.

Ubuntu 14.04 Wifi & Ethernet Network not working - Network Unclaimed

    Hi,

My Lenovo G470 has a dual boot Windows 7 and Ubuntu 14.04. Today My Ubuntu's Internet suddenly stopped connecting. I have tried various solutions presented on the web, but am unable to solve the problem. Can you present me with a solution?

    Problem: Network Unclaimed.

    Re: Broadcom BCM4313: Network UNCLAIMED

    Hi, Thanks for the reply.

When I run the "sudo modprobe -v ath9k" command, I get an error:
    HTML Code:
modprobe: FATAL: Module ath9k not found.
PS: I do not have internet on my Laptop. I can connect to internet if I boot windows or when I use a USB booted Ubuntu.

    Ok, you need this file:

    http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/po...3.72_amd64.deb

Save it in "Downloads" and install via
    Code:
    sudo dpkg -i ~/Downloads/*.deb
    Reboot and run
    Code:
    sudo apt-get install --reinstall linux-generic

Re: Ubuntu 14.04 Wifi & Ethernet Network not working - Network Unclaimed

Awesome, thanks Pr. All my problems have been solved now.

Out of the blue my login had switched from German keyboard to American (Kubunbtu 14.04 on Lenovo ThinkPad Edge Type 0196). It took me a while to figure that out; my password contains a couple of special characters. Also the wireless connection had stopped working (Ethernet was fine though). I was only trying to correct the wireless problem using Pr's fix, but now the keyboard is okay, too. When I ran

    sudo apt-get install --reinstall linux-generic

I received an error message about dependencies (don't remember what it said exactly), but in the message it was also recommended to run

    sudo apt-get install

without further arguments, which I did. After rebooting everything - including the keyboard nuisance - was fixed.

    Pr great, thanks again.
