Hi,
I'm running 14.04. Other than my folders changing color, nothing seems different.
How do I get into the "Mate" environment?
Thanks!
Garry

Thank you for that suggestion.
I logged out, and was given three choices: Garry, Guest, and Other.
Selecting "Other" changed the background to Ubuntu Mate.
But when I entered my name and password, the response came back as "Incorrect Password, Please Try Again".
My only solution was to log in as Garry, taking me back to the Unity Desktop.
Thanks!

Hmm...you should be able to choose what window manager you want to use too if you have more than one installed - as you do.
If you are using standard Ubuntu, you can select the desktop environment by clicking on the round icon near the login box. See the attached picture.
If you don't see Mate listed as an option, per the image Sudodus posted, then most likely something went wrong with the install. How, exactly, did you install Mate?
You have *no* idea how beyond delighted I am.
I can't believe I'm this joyful about my computer's look and feel. But I really am.
One thing, that little icon was hiding in the top right corner of the screen.
Picture of the screen to follow once I get Dropbox going.
Thanks so much!!!! You guys are the best!
And getting Dropbox going will be a new thread, I'm afraid...
Actually, Dropbox is working, but not showing the indicators. I can live with that.
So here's where the Mate icon was.
Again, thanks so much!!
