how to make bootable usb-stick

hello, I just installed pc-bsd, and I want to create a bootable usb-stick. I downloaded Unetbootin, but it wont boot. any suggestions for an alternative?

found it: use the option dd in the terminal to write an iso-file to usb-stick.

or use unetbootin and use the option disk image and browse to the iso file

tried that, but unetbootin didnt seem to recognize the usb device...
